Young People in Sheerness will soon be able to dive into a brand-new underwater themed adventure play area.

Swale Borough Council is installing the three-storey attraction at the centre in Beachfields as part of the £20 million Sheerness Revival project, funded by the UK Government.

The new play space will offer something for everyone.

The ground floor will include a calming sensory area and a toddler zone complete with a roleplay vet and café.

The first floor will host a sports pitch and variety of physical challenges.

On the top level, ‘tag active’ elements challenge players to tap wristbands against sensors across climbing walls and rope bridges to score points.

To finish the course, two thrilling slides connect the top deck straight back to the ground.

Parents can relax in a new seating area right next to the action and enjoy food and drinks from the new café or even take part themselves.

Cllr Monique Bonney, chair of the council’s economy and property committee, said:

“The adventure play will bring something truly special to the Island, which children of all ages will enjoy.

“With the sensory room, roleplay areas, and challenging obstacle courses, it provides development and entertainment opportunities for everyone.

“We also wanted to make sure the Sheerness Revival is providing a good balance of free attractions too.

“That is why we are adding an outdoor gym, revamping the paddling pool, installing a cycle track, and building a multi-use games area adding to our amazing pirate ship play area nearby.

“This is just one part of the wider Sheerness Revival project. We are already seeing local young people benefit from the EKC Sheppey College extension, and entrepreneurs finding support in the new makers studios at Masters House.

“We cannot wait to open this new centre so local people can start to enjoy the new and improved services on offer.”

The project is also delivering a state-of-the-art gym space, a new café, modernised and accessible health care facilities and purpose-built space for Sheppey Matters all within the expanded and renovated centre.

The council’s £20 million government funded Sheerness Revival project is working to improve the health and wellbeing, education and leisure facilities on the Island and create new employment and training opportunities for local people.

Some of the exciting things your kids can expect when the course opens later this year include:

  • Ground floor - a calming sensory area featuring mirror panels, bubble tubes, and a star-cloth night sky. A toddler zone includes roleplay areas, 3D puzzles, stepping stones, and trampoline, alongside junior climbing ramps.
  • First floor - an active zone featuring a sports pitch, spinning doors, balance beams, tube climbers, and stepping stones.

Second floor - a high-energy obstacle course featuring a tag active challenge, rope bridges, a clear ball crawl, traverse walls, a mega ball, and two racing slides down to the ground floor.
