People supporting local good causes could win a £1,000 last-minute getaway, or up to £25,000, by buying tickets for Swale Borough Council’s community lottery.

The Swale Community Lottery gives people the chance to support their favourite local charities and non-profit organisations financially, while having the chance to win cash prizes each week.

For this month’s Super Draw, everyone who buys a ticket before Saturday 27 June will be in with the chance of winning a £1,000 last-minute getaway for the perfect summer escape.

Whether you’re dreaming of a relaxing cottage in the Lake District, fish and chips by the Cornish coast, a fun-filled theatre weekend in London, or a peaceful countryside retreat with family and friends, this prize is packed with exciting possibilities for the perfect summer escape.

Feeling a little more adventurous? You could even use it towards a European city break and explore somewhere new this summer, or you can take the £1,000 cash alternative and spend it your way.

The over 50 charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups of all shapes and sizes who have signed up to the lottery receive 50% of the proceeds from tickets they sell.

A further 10% from every ticket sale goes into a central fund which will be shared among other good causes through grants.

The remainder goes towards prize funds and operating costs.

Thanks to the amazing support from the people of Swale, the charities that have signed up to benefit from the lottery receive a monthly cash boost throughout the year.

The regular draws take place every week, and as well as the £25,000 jackpot, players people could win prizes of £2,000, £250, £25 or more tickets - with three lucky Swale residents recently winning £250 each.

Super draws take place on the last Saturday of each month, and you can buy extra tickets to “top-up” for super draw week – or if you don’t want weekly tickets, you can buy tickets just for the super draw.

Tickets for the lottery are available on the Swale Community Lottery website and cost just £1.

Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the housing, health and communities committee, said:

“Our community lottery has over 50 good causes to choose from to support, with the added bonus of standing the chance to win cash prizes while financially backing your favourite charities.

“This month’s super draw gives you the chance to win an exciting holiday trip, whether that is a staycation somewhere beautiful in England or a trip abroad, on top of your chance to win cash prizes that you usually have with a regular ticket.

“If you are able to please pick a charity and start supporting today, this is another fundraising tool that our charities are using to fund their incredibly important work.”
