Enjoy spooktacular family activities this Halloween on the Isle of Sheppey thanks to Pride in Place funding.
Families can create boo-tiful decorations at free events hosted by local art organisation Big Fish Arts, funded by UK government’s £20 million Sheppey East Pride in Place Fund.
The events, witch will include light refreshments, will be taking place between 10am and 1pm on:
- Tuesday 27 October at the Sheppey Matters Hub, Eastchurch Village Hall, ME12 4EJ
- Friday 30 October at the Eastern Sheppey Community Hub (Old Police Station), Leysdown, ME12 4RD
The events offer children the opportunity to get creative and have fun with crafts, for free, and create fang-tastic decorations for their homes ahead Halloween night’s trick or treating.
While the children are getting crafty, parents can discuss what they want pride in place to focus on with the Neighbourhood Board members and the community engagement officer.
Garry Ratcliffe, Chair of the Pride in Place Sheppey East Neighbourhood board:
“We are delighted to be able to offer these fun, free activity days for local families to get into the Halloween spirit creating decorations for their homes.
“It is also the perfect opportunity to talk to people about what Pride in Place is trying to achieve while actively building the community spirit through fun shared events.
“One of the key priorities that you told us about was seasonal dips in community events and feeling isolated, so events like these are exactly the kind of things we want to do more of.
“We’d love for you to come along to the event and share your thoughts on this very important investment into Sheppey East, while enjoying a cup of tea and some fun crafts!”
More on Pride in Place
Pride in Place is a central government funded programme investing up to £5 billion across UK neighbourhoods.
Sheppey East can receive up to £20 million over 10 years from March 2027 to deliver the changes that matter most to local people.
The programme is deliberately community-led: local people decide the priorities, shape the plans and guide the funding, supported by Swale Borough Council and central government.
