People struggling with the cost of living crisis can get crucial support and advice at an event this month.

Swale Borough Council is hosting a One Swale roadshow on 24 March in Faversham, bringing together local charities and other organisations that offer crucial support to local people.

Charities and organisations will all be under one roof ready to help at the Salvation Army, 4 Court St, ME13 7AW, from 9:30 to 11:30.

The organisations on hand to help will be:

  • Citizens Advice Swale
  • Crossroads Care Kent
  • CXK
  • Everyone Health
  • Food Friends
  • Kent Fire & Rescue
  • Kent Police
  • Live Well Kent & Medway
  • Medequip
  • South East Water
  • SBC Healthy Homes Project
  • Swale Family Hubs
  • The Harmony Therapy Trust
  • We Are With You (NHS Talking Therapies)

These charities and other organisations will be offering support with people’s health and wellbeing, drug abuse, social care, and financial hardship.

They can also provide things like fuel vouchers, warm packs, bill discounts and employment and training opportunities.

The council’s roadshows have helped thousands of people with things like food and fuel vouchers, water bill reductions, and health check-ups, and offered them advice on issues such as home safety, energy use, health and debt.

Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said:

“This event aims to bring the people of Swale together with the fantastic organisations already offering support on a wide range of issues in Swale.

“This roadshow is a great place to meet the friendly volunteers who are ready and waiting to offer you help with the cost of living, debt, health and so much more.

“We are acutely aware of the struggles many people in Swale are facing and will continue working with our local good causes to maximise their amazing work.”

The council is working with the Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group to organise this event, which are funded by the Government’s Household Support Fund.
