People struggling with the cost of living can get crucial support and advice at an event on the Isle of Sheppey this month.
Swale Borough Council is hosting a One Swale roadshow on 24 July in Sheerness, bringing together local charities and other organisations that offer crucial support to local people.
Charities and organisations will all be under one roof, ready to help, at the Sheppey Gateway, 38-42 High St, Sheerness ME12 1NL, from 9:30 to 11:30.
The organisations on hand to help will be:
- HCRG Care Group
- Fuel and Water Advisor
- Dogs Trust
- Vibe Youth - Brogdale
- Groundwork Green Doctor
- Citizens Advice Swale
- KCC Community Micro-Enterprise Project
- Mountain Healthcare
- Southern Housing
- The Princess Project
- MVA - Joy
- NexYouth
- RSPCA Animal Welfare
- Sittingbourne PCN
- One You Kent
- Swale Family Hubs
- KCC Financial Hardship
- KCC Community Wardens
These charities and other organisations will be offering support with people’s health and wellbeing, drug abuse, social care, and financial hardship.
They can also provide things like fuel vouchers, warm packs, bill discounts and employment and training opportunities.
The council’s roadshows have helped more than 4,000 people so far with things like food and fuel vouchers, water bill reductions and health check-ups, and offered them advice on issues such as home safety, energy use, health and debt.
Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said:
“Our One Swale Roadshow events are part of an ongoing effort to provide people in need with crucial support across the borough.
“The roadshow visits different areas of the borough each month - bringing together charities and organisations that can help you with food and fuel vouchers and other general advice and support.
“If you know someone who is in need, please share this opportunity with them, the roadshows are a safe and judgement free space and has been making a real impact so far.”
The council is working with the Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group to organise these roadshows, which are funded by the Government’s Household Support Fund.
The next event will be on Thursday 7 August in Leysdown’s Swale Family Hub, George Wharton Centre, Warden Bay Road, Leysdown-on-Sea, ME12 4NA.
