You may have seen national media coverage about elections taking place on 7 May. We would like to reassure residents that there are no elections taking place in Swale this May.
This year is a fallow year for Swale Borough Council, meaning no local elections were scheduled. This has been planned for some time and forms part of the normal electoral cycle.
Councillors in England are elected for fixed four-year terms on a set cycle. In Swale, all Borough Councillors were elected in May 2023, so the next full Borough Council elections are due in May 2027, unless changes arising from Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) alter that timetable.
When elections are due in Swale, we will provide clear information well in advance through our usual communication channels.
