People have helped clean up Swale’s beaches, woodlands and green spaces at Great British Spring Clean events across the borough.
Swale Borough Council is hosting a series of events during Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean - 21 March to 6 April - where millions of people around the country work together to litter pick and take other environmental action.
The next event is to help clean up Garrison Point Beach, next to Sheerness Docks ME12 1RS, where volunteers can help litter pick on Friday 4 April from 9am to 11am, all equipment will be provided.
The council already worked with volunteers and a local business to organise a community volunteer day, on 26 March, which helped collect and remove tree covers from Kingsborough Manor Community Woodland, on the Isle of Sheppey.
Local company CDDL Recycling provided the tonne bags needed to collect the outgrown guards and has offered to remove and recycle them for free - using technology that makes their recycling possible.
The council also hosted a litter pick volunteer day on Wednesday 2 April from 10 am to 1pm at the Kemsley Recreation Ground, Grovehurst Avenue, Sittingbourne.
All events are weather dependent so keep an eye on the council’s social media or their climate action website for updates.
