Get crucial cost of living support at an event being hosted by Swale Borough Council.
Charities and organisations will be stationed in the Faversham Salvation Army building, 4 Court St, to offer help on Tuesday 22 October, as part of the latest One Swale Roadshow.
The council’s roadshows have helped more than 2,200 people with things like food and fuel vouchers, water bill reductions and health check-ups, and offered them advice on issues such as home safety, energy use, health and debt.
The organisations who can assist residents at this month’s roadshow include Age UK, Citizens Advice, Department for Works and Pensions, Groundwork, Kent Fire & Rescue, Kent Libraries and One You Kent.
There will also be a roadshow stall in the Faversham Market, being run by the Faversham Community Networking Group, to offer support to passersby and signpost the additional resources available at the roadshow.
Cllr Richard Palmer, chair of Swale Borough Council’s Community and Leisure Committee, said:
“As we head towards the colder months, we understand the financial pressure people are facing – as the sheer number of people coming to our roadshows for help and support shows.
“There are organisations out there doing incredible work, including local charities that understand the needs of the people living in Swale, but not everyone knows what support is available to them.
“That is why our roadshows are so important, they bring all of this help under one roof, where residents can speak to friendly people who have the knowledge and resources to support you.
“These events will continue into next year, but please don’t miss out on getting the support they can offer, if you or someone you know are struggling, please take the step towards help and utilise this amazing resource.”
The council is working with the Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group to organise these roadshows.
The event will take place between 9:30 am and 11:30 am on 22 October at 4 Court Street, Faversham, ME13 7AW.
The council will be hosting an event every month at different locations around the borough until March 2025, to try to connect people in need with organisations who can offer support.
Next month’s event will be in Sittingbourne on Thursday 21 November in the newly reopened Heather House Community Hub on the Ave of Remembrance, ME10 4NN.
