Support your favourite good causes and stand a chance to win a luxury city break worth £1,000 (or £1,000 cash) by buying a ticket for the Swale Community Lottery.

The lottery gives people the chance to support their favourite local charities and non-profit organisations financially, while having the chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000 each week.

For this month’s Super Draw everyone who buys a ticket before Saturday 28 February will be in with the chance to experience the sights and sounds of their favourite city for a weekend.

Whether you want to hit the West End, see the architecture and nightlife of Barcelona, sample the art and food of Florence, or soak up the culture in Paris - whatever a city break means to you, it could be yours.

But if you aren’t a fan of travelling you can take the £1,000 cash alternative - or go green and choose to plant 1,000 trees in one of Treeapp's global projects.

Tickets are just £1 for the weekly draw, and you can choose to support one of the over 50 registered good causes in Swale, with more of your money going to your chosen cause than with any other major lottery.

The charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups, of all shapes and sizes, who have signed up to the lottery receive 50% of the proceeds from the tickets they sell.

A further 10% from every ticket sale goes into Swale Borough Council’s central fund which will be shared among other good causes through grants. The remainder goes towards prize funds and operating costs.

Thanks to the amazing support of Swale’s residents, the charities that signed up to benefit from the lottery receive a monthly cash boost throughout the year.

This includes helping combat the rising costs for SFM Radio, a Sittingbourne community radio station, increasing the larger purchase savings of the Queenborough Guildhall Museum and helping fund the Avenue Theatre.

And if this support continues, the lottery is set to raise thousands of pounds for local good causes in its first year.

The regular draws take place every week, and as well as the £25,000 jackpot, players people could win prizes of £2,000, £250, £25 or more tickets.

Super draws take place on the last Saturday of each month, and you can buy extra tickets to “top-up” for super draw week – or if you don’t want weekly tickets, you can buy tickets just for the super draw.

Tickets for the lottery are available on the Swale Community Lottery website and cost just £1.

Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said:

“Our community lottery has been supporting our local good causes for almost a year now and it has been great to see the impact is has had for them, giving them a much-needed cash boost.

“Ultimately, supporting the lottery is a way to support these good causes, but with the added benefit of having the chance to win cash prizes and amazing super draws like this weekend getaway.

“If you can, please have a look at the over fifty incredible charities signed up so far and start supporting them through the lottery, if you do so before February 28 you will automatically be entered into this month’s super draw.

“Thank you to everyone who has already bought tickets; your support helps these hardworking charities provide the services many people in Swale rely on.”
