Support Swale’s good causes and stand a chance to win cash prizes and an extra £3,000 Christmas bonus, by buying a ticket for the Swale Community Lottery.
The lottery gives people the chance to support their favourite local charities and non-profit organisations financially, while having the chance to win cash prizes of up to £25,000 each week.
For this month’s Super Draw everyone who buys a ticket before Saturday 20 December will be in with the chance of winning £3,000 Christmas cash bonus to spend how you please.
You could shop the January sales, spread the joy by giving back to a cause, go on your dream getaway, treat yourself to the latest tech, or take yourself on a culinary adventure - the choice is yours.
Tickets are just £1 for the weekly draw, and you can choose to support one of the over 50 registered good causes in Swale, with more of your money going to your chosen cause than with any other major lottery.
The charities, voluntary organisations and other not-for-profit groups, of all shapes and sizes, who have signed up to the lottery receive 50% of the proceeds from the tickets they sell.
A further 10% from every ticket sale goes into Swale Borough Council’s central fund which will be shared among other good causes through grants. The remainder goes towards prize funds and operating costs.
Thanks to the amazing support of Swale’s residents, the charities that signed up to benefit from the lottery receive a monthly cash boost throughout the year.
This includes contributing towards this year’s Sittingbourne Christmas Lights and Sleigh Rounds, the important work of the Freedom Centre in Sheerness, and giving a cash boost to the Arden Theatre in Faversham.
And if this support continues, the lottery is set to raise a staggering £10,000 for local good causes in its first year.
The regular draws take place every week, and as well as the £25,000 jackpot, players people could win prizes of £2,000, £250, £25 or more tickets.
Super draws take place on the last Saturday of each month, and you can buy extra tickets to “top-up” for super draw week – or if you don’t want weekly tickets, you can buy tickets just for the super draw.
Tickets for the lottery are available on the Swale Community Lottery website and cost just £1.
Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of the Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said:
“The lottery has already helped charities and non-profits, large and small, raise hundreds of pounds so far this year.
“The Freedom Centre is a perfect example of people coming together to support something important to their community.
“The charity managed to raise hundreds of pounds, funding a laptop which will help change the way they work, by signing up to our community lottery.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support Swale has shown the lottery already and we can’t wait to see it grow as more and more causes sign up to start fundraising.
“If you are able to, pick a good cause close to your heart and start supporting them today, and you may just be lucky enough to win something too!”
