The Sheppey themed adventure golf course in Beachfields is ready to welcome people for some summer fun.
The course was closed for several days to allow for routine maintenance to make sure the popular and challenging course is in tee-rific shape for the peak season.
Installed as part of Swale Borough Council’s government funded Sheerness Revival project the course features iconic monuments from the Island thanks to the design in-putt of local school children.
A large replica of the SS Montgomery is the centrepiece of the exciting course, which features 18 holes celebrating the unique heritage and landmarks of the Island.
Anyone looking for an above par activity, for all the family, will be able to golf their way through Sheppey’s unique heritage and history with holes featuring:
- Hole 1 ship bollards

- Hole 3 a ship funnel
- Hole 4 the Sheerness Clock Tower
- Hole 5 torpedoes and artillery shells
- Hole 6 the bow of the SS Montgomery with its masts
- Hole 7 a pterodactyl
- Hole 8 a whirlpool
- Hole 9 shipping compass
- Hole 10 a ships wheel

First opened in July 2025 the course has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors helping to revive the legacy of Beachfields, which has been a destination for leisure since the 1840’s and even hosted a previous course.
You can book a time to play on the adventure golf's website here.
Cllr Monique Bonney, chair of the council’s Property and Economy Committee, said:
“The adventure golf course was one of the first things we completed as part of our wider government funded Sheerness revival project and has already proven to be a major success.
“We have seen tens of thousands of visitors giving the golf course a swing, bringing footfall to our high-street, beachfront and our local businesses.
“The college extension has also just welcomed students, improving the education offer on the Island, and the makers studios are getting new tenants, helping young entrepreneurs launch their businesses.
“Later this year the Healthy Living Centre will also be completed, marking the end of our project, but just the beginning of the benefits our hard work and investment will bring, which will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.”
The course forms just one small part of the major improvements taking place at the Healthy Living Centre as part of the council’s £20 million investment into Sheerness.
This includes improving the healthcare facilities, renovating the gym, creating a tailor-made space for local charity Sheppey Matters, and installing exciting adventure play facilities.
The council also plans to add a new café, a free outdoor gym, and to renovate the tennis court and improve accessibility throughout the public space.
The other elements of the project include the recently completed makers studios at the council’s former offices Masters House, and the extension of the EKC Sheppey College helping to provide new engineering and design courses.
