Find out how you could save money on your heating bills and cut your carbon footprint by visiting heat pumps in action in homes across Swale.
Swale Borough Council have teamed up with Nesta, a research and innovation foundation, to help promote their visit a heat pump and start at home schemes.
The highly efficient technology heats your home by drawing naturally occurring heat from the air, ground or water outside, and transferring it inside, and is cheaper than many alternative heating systems.
The visit a heat pump website features a list of homes near you where you can arrange to view an air source heat pump that is already working to cut local’s bills while helping the planet.
Or message a homeowner to ask questions about their experiences with a heat pump.
If you already have a heat pump installed, you can register to become a host and join the more than 1,000 people sharing their experiences and the benefits of installing the system.
The platform allows hosts to review and approve or decline requests for viewings and offers secure messaging and outdoor only viewing options.
To increase the number of trained installers, Nesta also runs the start at home scheme which offers heating engineers support to install fully funded heat pumps in their own homes.
This gives the engineers the experience they need to begin installing them in homes across the borough.
This partnership forms part of the council’s Climate and Ecological Emergency Action Plan which aims to address the ongoing climate and ecological emergency in Swale.
Promoting retrofitting projects for Swale’s homes and businesses is a key step in the action plan; to keep residents aware of schemes available to reduce their homes carbon footprint.

Cllr Dolley Wooster, chair of the council’s environmental services and climate change committee, said:
“The find a heat pump website is an amazing resource; providing practical demonstrations and firsthand testimony on heat pumps, all available right within our own communities.
“We want to see more people installing heat pumps in their homes because it can not only save you money in the long run but will also help protect our planet as we move away from using damaging fossil fuels to heat our homes.
“The start at home scheme is also a great opportunity for heating engineers in Swale to learn new skills and begin installing these efficient heating systems in homes across the borough.”
