Help give Swale a spring clean

Help clean up Swale’s beaches, woodlands and green spaces at Great British Spring Clean events across the borough.

Swale Borough Council is hosting a series of events during Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean, which kicks off on 13 March 2026.

You can join millions of people around the country working together to litter pick and take other environmental action.

Friday 13 March

Join volunteers at the Garrison Point Beach, next to Sheerness Docks ME12 1RS, to help litter pick the seafront from 9am.

There is also an event at the Thistle Hill Community Woodland between 10am to 12pm on the Isle of Sheppey, ME12 3GP, where you can help clean up this important green space.

Tuesday 17 March

Help litter pick in Sittingbourne around St John’s Avenue. Meet the volunteers outside St John’s Mini Market at 10 am, the event will end at 12pm.

Friday 20 March

Help clear litter from the Kingsborough Manor Community Woodland, on the Isle of Sheppey, ME12 4ST, from 10am to 12pm.

Saturday 21 March

Ospringe Parish Council are hosting their annual litter pick across Ospringe Valley near Faversham from 10am. Everyone is welcome just email clerk@ospringeparishcouncil.gov.uk and they will let you know where to meet.

22 March

Swale Friends of the Earth, in conjunction with Faversham Creek Trust, will be leading their annual spring litter picks at the Faversham Creek, ME13 7NF.

Friday 27 March

Join likeminded volunteers at the Barton’s Point Coastal Park to help clean and maintain the rare ecosystems that call the park their home, between 10am to 12pm.

Sunday 29 March

Join the Swale Friends of the Earth to help litter pick Bysing Wood, near the Oare Gunpowder Works. 10 am to 12pm, what3words relaxing, round, anguished.

Wednesday 1 April

Help litter pick along Sheppey Way leading towards Bobbing between 10am and 12pm. Meet at the junction of Sheppey Way and Quinton Road.

Tuesday 14 April

Southern Water, Kent Science Park and the council have teamed up to host a litter picking event at the Milton Creek Country Park, ME10 2EX, between 9:30am and 2pm. Anyone who wants to join in should meet at the park’s car park.

Cllr Dolley Wooster chair of the Environmental Services and Climate Change Committee, said:

“We are incredibly proud of our natural environment here in Swale and strive to maintain and improve our seafronts, woodlands and green spaces for everyone to enjoy.

“The annual Great British Spring Clean gives us a fantastic opportunity to join forces with millions of people across the country to make a real positive impact on our neighbourhoods.

“If you have some time to spare, please come along to as many events as you can, it is a fantastic opportunity to get out into nature and fresh air, while getting active and socialising with likeminded people.

“We can’t wait to see everyone working together to help give Swale a lovely spring clean.”

Equipment will be provided for all of the events, but wear gloves, appropriate shoes and dress for the weather.

All events are weather dependent so keep an eye on the council’s social media or their climate action website for updates.
