Families struggling financially can receive crucial support and advice at an event being hosted during the summer holiday by Swale Borough Council.
Charities and organisations who can offer help will be stationed in the Eastern Sheppey Community Hub in Leysdown on Sea, as part of the latest One Swale Roadshow, on 13 August.
People can get support with the cost of living crisis such as; food and fuel vouchers and help with accessing the Household Support Fund, and advice on issues like; mental wellbeing, drug abuse, health and debt.
This month’s roadshow will run from 9:30 to 11:30 at Eastern Sheppey Community Hub on Leysdown Road, Leysdown on Sea, ME12 4RD.
The organisations who will be able to assist people include Age UK Sheppey, Citizen’s Advice Swale, Shaw Trust, Imago, Cocaine Anonymous, One You Kent, Kent Enablement Service and more.
Following the success of last year’s roadshows, the council is hosting an event every month at various locations around the borough, until March 2025, to connect people in need with organisations who can help.
The previous event, which took place at Seashells Family Hub, included a family fun day hosted by charity Children and Families and featured arts and craft activities, healthy lifestyle themed family games, a healthy picnic and fun outdoor activities.
The council is working in conjunction with Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group to organise these roadshows.
Richard Palmer, chair of the community and leisure committee, said:
“Our One Swale Roadshows have become a consistent and valuable resource for people who need help; whether they are struggling financially, with their physical or mental health or just need sound advice.
“Of course, I wish we could say we don’t need these Roadshows as that would mean no one is facing difficulties, but seeing the amount of people looking for help through these events show they are needed now more than ever.
“The cost of living crisis has hit everyone, and it can be difficult to cope especially if you are struggling with debt, so having these judgment free places where people who need help can get it is important.
“If you or someone you know need support or advice, please don’t hesitate to come along to our roadshow in Leysdown, there are many fantastic charities who will be waiting and ready to help!”
