People struggling with the cost of living crisis can get crucial support and advice at an event on the Isle of Sheppey this month.
Swale Borough Council is hosting an additional One Swale roadshow on 20 March in Sheerness to help residents in need.
The roadshow will take place at the Sheppey Gateway 38, 42 High St, Sheerness ME12 1NL on Thursday 20 March from 9:30 to 11:30.
This will be attended by:
- Sateda Sharewear
- Fuel and Water Advisor
- Imago
- Vibe Youth
- Swale Family Hubs
- DWP
- Citizens Advice Swale
- Kent Police
- Age UK Infinity,

- KCC Community Micro-Enterprise Project
- Cash Access
- Cocaine Anonymous
- Southern Housing
These charities and other organisations will be offering support with people’s health and wellbeing, drug abuse, social care, and financial hardship, and can provide things like fuel vouchers, warm packs, bill discounts and employment and training opportunities.
The council’s Healthy Homes Project will also be providing support and practical advice for people struggling with damp and mould in their homes.
Another important service is help with accessing the Household Support Fund.
The council’s roadshows have helped more than 3,000 people so far with things like food and fuel vouchers, water bill reductions and health check-ups, and offered them advice on issues such as home safety, energy use, health and debt.
Cllr Elliott Jayes, vice chair of Swale Borough Council’s Community and Leisure Committee, said:
“Our One Swale Roadshows are a space free of judgement, where many caring and kind volunteers will be ready and waiting to offer tailored advice and support, no matter your circumstances.
“So please stop by the roadshow and leverage all the amazing support being provided by Swale’s fantastic charities and organisations or share this opportunity with a loved one.
“We are always looking to find creative and collaborative ways of working with our amazing non-profits within the borough to offer crucial support to our residents, and these events are a testament to that.”
The council worked with the Swale CVS and Faversham Community Networking Group to organise these roadshows.
