Four talented school children have helped design the Mayor of Swale’s annual Christmas cards.
Mayor Cllr Ben Martin invited students from his former primary school, Ethelbert Road School in Faversham, to create holiday themed artworks to feature on the Christmas cards he sends out.
Three children, two 5-year-olds and a 10-year-old, won the competition which involved all of the school children submitting fantastic artworks.
While an 8-year-old who wrote a poem which was chosen to feature inside every card.
The winning artworks, chosen out of 20 finalists, are two paintings of Christmas trees, and a pencil drawing depicting Santa Claus heading down the chimney.
Cllr Ben Martin, Mayor of Swale, said:
“The festive period is a wonderful time for all that celebrate it, but especially the children who are eagerly awaiting Santa’s delivery of their presents.
“I wanted to get local children involved in Swale’s Christmas traditions this year, so I took a trip back to my old primary school to enlist their help.
“It was incredibly difficult to pick the winners of our competition because there were so many talented young artists showcasing their Christmas card worthy painting and drawings.
“I can’t wait to send out these fun cards and know they will bring a smile to the face of everyone who received them, like they did when I was looking at all of the submissions.”
Poem featured on each card
Choirs go and sing Christmas Songs
Happy Christmas says everyone
Reindeers flying the Sleigh
In the night you’ll get presents or not
Saying Ho Ho Ho in the Air
Tin foil wrapped around trees
Moons are bright in the light
Across the room presents unwrap
Soon a roast dinner will be gobbled up
