There’s still two days left of family fun at the biggest Sheerness Seaside Festival yet!
The festival celebrating Sheerness’ history as a seaside and former naval dockyard town received £5,000 from the UK government’s Shared Prosperity Fund through Swale Borough Council’s Town Centre Action Grant (TAG).
The weeklong event began on 10 August starting with local bands and free music, and will culminate in a spectacular carnival parade starting at 4pm on 17 August.
The event is packed with exciting things to explore including, a large funfair, donkey and steam train rides, Punch and Judy shows, charity fund raising events, crafts, talks from local historians, a classic vehicle show, and other fun activities.
The carnival parade will end with a grand firework display on the seafront at Beachfields kicking off at 9pm.

Some events have a small charge, or require booking in advance.
Cllr Monique Bonney, chair of the economy and property committee said;
“Ambitious and vibrant events like these breathe life into our cherished towns and help create a sense of pride in our community.
“So being able to support exciting projects like these, through our grants, is amazing as the hardworking volunteers often have great ideas but don’t always have the money to execute them.
“The carnival parade and fireworks display have become an annual highlight for many people and we are grateful to be able to help make the Sheerness Seaside Festival Week a reality.”
Phil Crowder, chairman of the Sheerness Town Team, said:
"We greatly appreciate the contribution from Swale Borough Council's Town Centre Action Fund which has made this year's event possible.
“This is our 3rd year running the festival and it promises to be the biggest and best yet.
“We look forward to welcoming people to our great town and hope they go away with many happy memories."
